Commonwealth Games-2022: PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and the duo of Chirag Shetty and Satviksairaj Rankireddy performed as expected in the Badminton. While 40-year-old Sharat Kamal got the gold medal with a superb performance against Liam Pitchford, a veteran such as  him. India achieved a total of 22 gold medals which is four less than in year 2018.

India completed fourth in Birmingham with a total of 61 medals, containing 22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze.

Indian men's hockey team frustrate, settles for silver medal after losing 0-7 to Australia


The Commonwealth Games-2022 finished  in Birmingham on Monday with a spectacular performance by Indian athletes. India's shuttlers and paddlers called it quits on the last day of the Games on Monday. In which Indian badminton players achieved gold medals in women's singles, men's singles and men's doubles in all 3 categories. While table tennis legend Sharat Kamal won the gold medal with the support of his class game. Along with this, India stood 4th in the medal tally with a total of 61 medals. India Received 22 gold medals, 16 silver medals and 23 bronze medals.


A brilliant performance from the India despite the absence of shooters

In Badminton, PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and Chirag Shetty and Satviksairaj Rankireddy duo played as expected. While 40-year-old Sharat Kamal won the gold medal with a amazing performance against Liam Pitchford, a veteran like him. India won a total of 22 gold medals which is four less than in year 2018. However, the shooting event was not held in Birmingham in which India played best. Shooters won 7 gold medals at the Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast 4 years ago. India achieved a total of 66 gold medals in those Games. If the absence of shooters is decided , India's performance has been very good.


Disappointed in hockey, losing 0-7 against Australia in the final

 




However, the last day ended in disappointment for the India. On the one hand, India performed amazingly in badminton and table tennis, while the performance of the Indian men's hockey team was very disappointing. The Indian team faced Australia in the gold medal tournament. However, the Indian team could not present a challenge at any point in the match. The Indian team broke down to score even a single goal. Because of  which the team had to face a defeat of 0-7 and had to settle for a silver medal.


Australia top the medal tally, with hosts England 2nd 



Australia surpassed Commonwealth Games-2022. Australia won a total of 178 medals containing  67 gold, 57 silver and 54 bronze. While hosts England completed second with a total of 176 medals including 57 gold, 66 silver and 53 bronze. Third-placed Canada won a total of 92 medals, containing 26 gold, 32 silver and 34 bronze medals. India completed fourth with a total of 61 medals including 22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze. The last nation in the top-5 was New Zealand which won 40 medals containing 20 gold, 12 silver and 17 bronze.



Satvik and Chirag Shetty made golden history



India's star doubles pair of Satwik Sairaj and Chirag Shetty put up a amazing performance in the men's doubles final. The Indian pair opposed England's Ben Lane and Sean Vandy. The pair of Satwik and Chirag dominated from the 1st game. The Indian pair won the first game by 21-15. Then in the 2nd game too, the Indian pair did not give any chance to the England pair. Satvik and Chirag won the gold medal as they won the 2nd game 21-13. India's 1st gold medal in men's doubles in badminton at the Commonwealth Games. This was India's 3rd badminton gold medal in Commonwealth Games-year 2022


PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen won the 1st Commonwealth Games gold medals



India's star shuttler PV Sindhu played as expected to win the gold medal. This is PV Sindhu's 1st Commonwealth Games gold medal. In the women's singles final, she beat Michelle Li of Canada 21-15, 21-13. With this, Sindhu became the second Indian woman badminton player to achieve a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games after Saina Nehwal. After Sindhu's gold medal, India's young star shuttler Lakshya Sen even gave the nation another gold medal. In the men's singles, Lakshya opposed Malaysia's Zay Young. Lakshya lost the 1st game but later fought back to win 19-21, 21-9, 21-16 to win his 1st Commonwealth Games gold medal. Lakshya Sen became the fourth Indian male badminton player to get a Commonwealth Games gold medal after Prakash Padukone, Syed Modi and Parupalli Kashyap.
